IFP/PHX 48-hour Film Challenge Video Available: The After Vows

Posted on July 31, 2008

I’ve been delaying posting this hoping that a youtube version would be made available. But as of this writing, it has not, so i’m just going to link you right to the site.

The video for the IFP/PHX 48 hour film challenge I was recently involved in has become available. I talked about it here(1), here(2), and here(3).

I will be posting the youtube video as soon as I find it there. But for now you’ll need to go to Catbrain Film Factory‘s website and see the flick. Its pretty funny, I’m pleased with it. See it HERE.

Much love.

Batmans Bad Day In Theaters Now!

Posted on July 20, 2008

…Okay the title may be a bit misleading. Phillip Lybrand just sent word, the Batman’s Bad Day video (see post and video) was added to the pre-show ‘Tower Vision’ playlist for all screenings of The Dark Knight at Tower Theatres in Marana (I-10 and Cortaro – www.mytowertheatres.com).

The GM of Tower Theatres met with Phillip Lybrand and let him know the video helped ease the tension with the waiting-in-line-for-hours-to-see-The-Dark-Knight crowd.

Yeay. :)

ps. Also, Batman’s Bad Day wins an award! Read more HERE.

Catbrain Film Factory 48-Hour Project Wrapped (for me)

Posted on July 19, 2008

My part in the Catbrain Film Factory project for the IFP/PHX 48-hour film challenge is over.

We started this morning at 8:00 am. I was actually a little late, arriving at 8:03 am. However my distress was for not; I was the first one there (aside from Liana Hubbard, but its her house so I’m disqualifying her from the race). I was a bit relieved as I wanted a chance to develop my character for the script.

Unfortunately (due to my late inclusion to the party, see previous posts) my email address did not make it onto the list of people-who-get-the-latest-news-on-the-project and I was informed upon arrival that the initial script had been scrapped. Not that it mattered much, I did not have a copy of that script either.

People quickly began arriving, first Greg Sturtz … and beyond that I’m actually a little fuzzy on the order of who arrived when. That being said, we soon had Diane Wallace, Mel Knoy, Brian Osback, Paul Hoeprich, and Holly Dell.

Things became a blur as I got my copy of the script and began my work. There was allot going on around me as everyone shifted into “go go gadget” mode (note: that may not be the actual mode they were in). It didn’t seem too long before Paul was asking me if I was ready. I told him “of course” (while thinking “hardly”) and the filming began.

Fast forward to the future (about 4-5 hours) and we were pretty much done with the shots I was involved in. I stuck around for a bit longer and watched the [censored - not sure what they want me revealing] scene.

Then I went home.

We should be able to see the film soon on the Catbrain Film Factory site. It will of course be in the IFP/PHX 5th annual 48-hour film challenge screening. We’ll see how we do then. It would be nice if I were not working that night.

ps. I hope to have on-set photos soon. I just need to convince the two people with cameras on-set to allow me to post them here.

Invited to Participate in the Catbrain Film Factory Project for the IFP/PHX 48-Hour Film Challenge

Posted on July 15, 2008

Liana Hubbard called me today and invited me to participate in Catbrain Film Factory 48-hour challenge film project for the 5th annual IFP/PHX 48-hour film challenge.

Oddly enough just a week ago I was sitting there thinking to myself that I wanted to do a 48-hour film competition. Plus I met Paul Hoeprich of Catbrain Film Factory at the audition for On A Plain (tentative name) and he is really nice/cool/chill (a good combo), and I’d be working with Liana Hubbard. Not to mention the other people, whose names I do not know at this time. Basically its an opportunity to work with people who are more experienced than yours truly.

Unfortunately I wont be able to participate. Yes, it hurts. I currently have prior obligations which will not allow me to join. I did leave some wiggle room though, I told Liana that I’d try to manage something. We’ll see how this turns out.

Batman’s Bad Day Wins at The Loft’s First Friday Shorts contest!

Posted on July 12, 2008

Just received word from Phillip Lybrand … okay, I’ll just use Phillip’s own words…

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you all know that “Batman’s Bad Day” took the prize last night at The Loft’s ‘First Friday Shorts’ contest! The film played very well and I received a lot of compliments afterwards about the performances, so I have all of you to thank for the good reception! The film will be a part of the 2008-2009 Year-End Winners Showdown next May, and it’s also been accepted into the Tampa Bay Comic Con Film Festival next month!

Thanks again to each of you for helping out.

-Phil
